The Secretariat Festival is pleased to add a bonus tour of Spendthrift Farm to our Sunday options. Queen Elizabeth II once visited this picturesque farm to behold Triple Crown winners Seattle Slew and Affirmed, who stood at this famed breeding and racing operation for a time. This year, Festival-goers also will receive the royal treatment with a unique opportunity to visit with regal resident Beholder, a two-time Secretariat Vox Populi nominee and four-time Eclipse winning champion mare.
Additionally, the Spendthrift tour will feature the farm’s impressive stallion roster, which includes leading sires and Secretariat descendants Into Mischief (Storm Cat) and Malibu Moon (A.P. Indy). The tour includes a visit to the farm's noteworthy breeding shed featuring nameplates for the great champions who were conceived there. The farm is also the final resting place for Nashua and Raise A Native, among other distinguished stallions.
This limited-seating “Legends of the Turf” tour, hosted by racing journalist and writer Steve Haskin, departs via motor coach from Keeneland on Sunday, Oct. 13, at 11:30 a.m. and returns at 2:00 p.m. -- in time to catch the Disney’s Secretariat, Fact and Fiction Festival Forum. All Spendthrift Farm tour participants will receive a complimentary gift as a keepsake of their visit.
PLEASE NOTE: TOUR TICKETS WILL NOT BE MAILED. Please arrive for check-in at Sales Pavilion entrance 10 minutes prior to departure. For more information, please call (502) 473-1036.
