As part of the Secretariat Day-Fest activities, guests can enjoy a visit to the site of the future Main St. Secretariat Park that will host a life-sized bronze monument of Secretariat and feature a three-story tall mural of Secretariat on the adjacent historic building, the 1933 Baldwin Hotel in the process of its own refurbishment.
The mural will be painted by acclaimed equine artist Jaime Corum, and during the month of October the artist will be in the initial stages of bringing Big Red to life on this enormous brick canvas. Day-Fest visitors can enjoy an onsite meet and greet where Jaime will share her insights for the creation of this spectacular civic project. Best of all, Jaime will allow guests to contribute their own personal brush stroke on the mural as part of their visit. A wonderful opportunity to see history in the making, and actually play a small part in its achievement!
UPDATE: While Jaime will be painting throughout the day on October 22, we are delighted to offer complimentary and participatory meet and greets with the artist at the following times: 10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 3:00 p.m. -- these times coordinate well with the Day-Fest Farm Tours. Stop by the mural site on Main St. to say hello and make your own personal mark on history!
