2013 Secretariat "Vox Populi" Award winner Mucho Macho Man is the object of affection for a legion of fans nationwide. Acclaimed Kentucky artist Jaime Corum features racing's current superstar in this wonderful new portrait of the popular equine athlete.
Mucho Macho Man's story is one made for Hollywood. Despite being presumed still-born, the resilient colt grew up to be a massive 17-hand physical specimen who has consistently demonstrated both the speed and the stamina to go along with the looks. His equally talented and resilient trainer Kathy Ritvo, the recipient of a heart transplant, orchestrated a coast-to-coast 2013 racing campaign culminating in a dramatic stretch battle and photo-finish victory in the Breeders' Cup Classic at Santa Anita Park. To date, the now 6-year-old "Moochie" continues to win at the highest level and has currently earned over $5.5 million carrying the colors of the Reeves Thoroughbred Racing Stable.
Corum's head-study captures the sweet disposition of the strapping bay champion with the lightening bolt blaze in vivid detail. From his gracefully arching neck to the hint of his muscular shoulder to the distinctive white shadow roll in which he competes, every wonderful attribute is on display. Denoting the special honor of being selected as the Secretariat "Vox Populi" winner, a small remarque of the 1973 Triple Crown winner adorns the lower left corner. Each 11" x 14" is produced on heavy archival art stock signed by the artist.
