We are proud to announce the newest release in the Secretariat Vox Populi Award series of artwork by Jaime Corum featuring 2021 winner Hot Rod Charlie.
This beautiful head study by the acclaimed Kentucky artist features the popular bay colt in racing tack in meticulous detail. From from his distinctive white-rimmed eye to his bold red shadow roll and triangular head band, Corum captures essence of the talented and tenacious runner.
Owned by the partnership of Roadrunner Stable, Gainesway Stable, Boat Racing LLC and William Strauss, trained by Doug O'Neill and ridden by Flavien Prat, Hot Rod Charlie’s signature performances include victories in the Louisiana and Pennsylvania Derbies, 2nd place finish in the Belmont Stake despite running early initial fractions second only to Secretariat’s world record 1973 performance, and third place finishes in the Kentucky Derby and the Robert B. Lewis Stakes. His lifetime earnings are more than $2.5 million to date as he embarks on his eagerly anticipated 2022 racing campaign.
Each of the 100 limited-run prints are hand-signed by the artist as well as Hot Rod Charlie's connections: majority owner Greg Helm, trainer Doug O'Neill and jockey Flavien Prat, and feature a remarque of the Roadrunner Stable silks in the lower left corner. Prints measure 18" x 12” and are produced on glossy fine art archival stock.
