The Secretariat Festival is proud to offer the Darley Stud/Old Friends tour to our Farm Tour roster. Tour-goers will get the double bonus of the illustrious breeding farm and the renowned racing retirement facility all in one great tour.
Darley Stud, the gorgeous thoroughbred breeding facility, is based at the historic Jonabell Farm founded in 1946 in the heart of the Bluegrass. With its distinctive international flair, this heralded farm is home to the acclaimed stallions Bernardini, Medaglia D'oro, Elusive Quality, and Kentucky Derby winners Animal Kingdom and Street Sense.
Old Friends, the non-profit thoroughbred retirement center founded in 2003 is a "living history museum of horse racing." Meet some of America's famous retired stallions including Secretariat's most accomplished living son Tinners Way, still going strong at the esteemed age of 26. Additionally, popular Kentucky Derby winners Silver Charm and War Emblem as well as 2011 Secretariat "Vox Populi" Award winner Rapid Redux reside among the 106 treasured horses at this equine haven.
The double-tour will depart by motor coach from the Kentucky Horse Park at 9:15 am on Sunday with approximately 75 minutes at Old Friends and 60 minutes at Darley. Please arrive for check-in at the Park Visitor Center's main lobby 10 minutes prior to departure. Each Darley Stud/Old Friends tour participant will receive a complimentary Festival gift as a keepsake of the visit.
Tour space will be limited to the single morning tour only, which will return to the Kentucky Horse Park at approximately 1:15 pm. Kentucky Horse Park full-day admission optional. For more information, call (502) 473-1036.
