The Secretariat Festival, in partnership with Blanton's Bourbon, is proud to host the Blanton's Bourbon Tasting and Bill Nack Storytelling. This entertaining evening features tastings of Blanton's original single-barrel bourbon, fine food, and horse talk at the chic Bour-Bon Restaurant, at 616 Main St.
The event starts at 6:00 pm with a bourbon connoisseur’s dream sampling of Blanton’s Bourbon led by bourbon expert Dave Scheurich, retired master distiller and Whiskey Advocate Lifetime Achievement Award winner.
At 7:00 pm enjoy a sumptuous Bluegrass-inspired menu of hearty hors d'oeuvres including local favorites shrimp and grits, mini Kentucky Hot Browns, and county ham rolls w granny apple chutney - all prepared with regional ingredients.
At 8:00 pm, renowned sports journalist Bill Nack, author of the best-seller Secretariat: The Making of a Champion, which served as the inspiration for the hit Disney film Secretariat, leads a unique presentation providing an insider's perspective to the champion's life and legacy. Joining the acclaimed writer will be Richard Laurin, grandson of Meadow Stable's legendary trainer Lucien Laurin. Both of these distinguished Festival guests will share their favorite stories and personal recollections of Secretariat with subsequent Q & A session. Live entertainment and cash bar will follow to cap off this special event.
Please Note: Tickets will now be $50 per person to make this memorable event affordable and accessible to more Festival-goers. This reduction is in keeping with the Festival’s community mindedness and accommodation for all horse racing fans.
