"SECRETARIAT IS WIDENING NOW, HE IS MOVING LIKE A TREMENDOUS MACHINE"
It was these expressive words that 1973 Belmont Stakes announcer Chick Anderson immortalized into the lexicon of Thoroughbred racing history. The race known as "The Test of the Champion" would ultimately culminate in Secretariat's astounding 31 length victory and a Triple Crown sweep. The renowned and descriptive race call is the inspiration for artist Jaime Corum in her dramatic portrayal of Secretariat.
In this new release, Jaime elected to paint Secretariat in his purest form - without jockey or tack, focusing on the movement of his enormous rhythmic stride. With nostrils flaring, mane blowing in the wind and every sinew of musculature defined within the champion's copper glow, it is a work that captures the essence of Secreriat's physical appeal. Limited to 500 total pieces measuring 20" x 13" signed by the artist and printed on the finest acid-free paper stock. Also available with the option of being hand-signed by Secretariat's esteemed Hall of Fame jockey Ron Turcotte.
