With over 70 years of experience between them, Ms. Cantrell is nationally recognized for her meticulous detailed work that captures the essence and movement of her subjects while Ms. Boydston is renowned for her unique painting and patina techniques. Pieces of their work reside throughout the country including the lobbies of the Central Intelligence Agency and the Air Force Academy. Their work in the equine form are as merited as they are valuable with their highly coveted collaborations in great demand throughout the art community. The bronze sculpture sits on a base adorned with two brass plaques. The front plaque contains the general information of Secretariat and his pedigree while the reverse plaque is individually engraved with the specific edition number. Each piece is individually hand cast in bronze and measures approximately 15" long and 10" tall atop a solid walnut base. The sculpture is available in a total edition of only 20 pieces depicting Secretariat in full racing tack with jockey Ron Turcotte aboard as he carried the fabled blue and white Meadow silks to his legendary 31 length victory of the Belmont Stakes. Each piece comes complete with a hand-numbered certificate of authenticity signed by Mrs. Chenery, Mr. Turcotte and the artists. The very limited number of pieces ensures the collectibility and investment potential of the sculpture for generations to come. The bronze is available in a choice of traditional patina or full color patina (shown). A new and popular alternative to the natural bronze patina traditionally seen, the full color patina is offered to showcase the gleaming chestnut coat colors of Secretariat and the famous blue and white silks of Meadow Stable. This coloring technique is a very detailed and labor intensive process and is not available through traditional foundry methods.
