This original mint condition admission ticket emanates from the personal collection of the late Penny Chenery, "The First Lady of Racing." The official Churchill Downs ticket represents one of the six seats from Ms. Chenery's own personal clubhouse Kentucky Derby box.
The 2017 Kentucky Derby was the final running of the classic contest ever witnessed by Ms. Chenery, who died in September last year. Fittingly, the race was won by Always Dreaming, a third generation grandson of Secretariat, further perpetuating the famed heritage and bloodlines of the Meadow Farm established in 1936.
The 3" x 7" ticket displays the Derby 143 logo along with the section, row, box and seat information amidst a green polka dot background with gold-foil imprint. The colorful official 2017 artwork contains the bold handwritten signature of Ms, Chenery. As a completely intact or "full" ticket with no portion detached, it commands an ever higher level of collectibility amongst sports memorabilia enthusiasts.
