Prancing Secretariat Bobblehead The Prancing Secretariat bobblehead has arrived and is he ever special!
Not only does he commemorate a historic moment from the past, he shares a special bond with a historic moment in the near future. Our latest release, and favorite pose yet, portrays Secretariat on his toes as he pranced to the Kentucky Derby Winners Circle following the 1973 Run for the Roses at Churchill Downs.
Owner Penny Chenery was so taken with the memory of the moment she used it when she commissioned a life-sized bronze statue celebrating the great champion as he looked during the peak of his racing glory. The statue resides at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington and is a major tourist attraction and the defining image of Secretariat for thousand of visitors to the Bluegrass each year.
While we can't claim such a lofty presence for our whimsical portrayal of Big Red, we can say that these humorous collectibles continue to spread the goodwill and interest in Secretariat to a new generation of racing fans .
The history of the Secretariat bobblehead is a wonderful example of the continuing popularity and appeal of the super-horse. Ever since our first Secretariat bobblehead debuted in 2002, the whimsical figurines have proven to be a crowd favorite with fans and memorabilia collectors alike. All three of our previous editions quickly sold-out, elevating their status in the sports collectible market. To this day we receive numerous requests from collectors and fans who were not fortunate enough to purchase one of these editions during the initial offering.
The Prancing Secretariat bobble features the muscular colt with his trademark blue and white blinkers representing the colors of the Chenery's fabled Meadow Racing Stable. The bobble is detailed down to the 1A on his saddlecloth which he wore in the Kentucky Derby while becoming the first horse ever to run the 1 1/4 mile race in less than two minutes. His official, and still-existing, record-breaking time of 1:59 2/5 has become a part of racing lore and marked the first step on the way to his legendary 1973 Triple Crown sweep.
Measuring 5.5" tall by 7.5" long, the figurine consists of the same great quality found in the earlier bobblehead editions. Also available hand-signed by Penny Chenery for the serious collectors. The perfect gift for your Derby guests or the perfect addition to your bobble stable. Order now and help celebrate the legacy of this wonderful champion.
