In 1958, First Landing won the Garden Stake Stakes in the final start of his two-year-old season. The victory not only secured year-end championship honors for the talented Meadow Stable homebred but also set the world record for all-time juvenile earnings of $396,460. The accomplishment was given great fanfare by the media, as evidenced by the promotional press photo of a less than impressed First Landing and his beauty queen barn buddy!
The delightful photo hand-signed by Penny Chenery comes in a framed montage which displays the program entries, original notations and the crackerjack field which included future Kentucky Derby winner Tomy Lee and 1959 Horse of the Year Sword Dancer. A charming and historical keepsake referencing the long and storied history of the Meadow.
