We are proud to announce the newest release in the Secretariat "Vox Populi" Award series of artwork by artist Jaime Corum featuring 2017 "Vox Populi" award winner Ben's Cat.
The late Ben’s Cat was the perfect embodiment of competitive spirit in Thoroughbred racing. During his eight-year career, the 11-year-old racing warrior and multiple stakes winner could be counted on to bring his "A" game to the track winning 32 times - finishing in the money in 48 of his 63 lifetime starts and earning $2.6 million during his career. Trained by esteemed Hall of Fame horseman King T. Leatherbury, Ben's Cat was a living legend in the Mid-Atlantic region, and his six consecutive victories in the Mr. Diz Stakes at Laurel Park and five wins in the Jim McKay Turf Sprint at Pimlico will likely never be duplicated.
Corum's portrait of the striking and nearly jet black gelding depicts "Ben" as most best remember him - poised for battle in full racing tack. The dramatic piece captures him in his familiar orange and white blinkers representing Leatherbury's The Jim Stable. This 18" x 12" artist-signed special edition print features a detailed remarque of Ben's great, great granddaddy Secretariat in the lower left corner. Produced on the finest archival stock and limited to 100 total pieces in the edition, each print is individually signed by Mr. Leatherbury - a testament to his and Ben's Cat's story of persistence and consistency delighting racing fans the world over
