The fifth victory of Secretariat's racing career was the Belmont Futurity. Racing at Belmont Park for the first time, Secretariat was victorious by 1 3/4 lengths over his persistent competitor Stop the Music. Although the margin of victory was not eye-popping, the time of 1:16 2/5 for the 6 1/2 furlong race was only 3/5 off the track mark. Secretariat's fifth consecutive win further solidified his reputation as the best 2-year-old colt in training on the East Coast. Beginning a stakes schedule that would mimic the successful campaign of his Meadow stablemate Riva Ridge from the previous year, Secretariat's share in the prestigious juvenile race was worth more than $80,000, his largest purse to date.

The official Belmont Futurity composite photo again features the Meadow Stable's triumvirate of Penny Chenery, Lucien Laurin and jockey Ron Turcotte as well as groom Mordecai Williams. Joining the winner's circle celebration for the first time was Penny's husband, Jack Tweedy as well as trophy presenter, New York Racing Association trustee Perry Pease. This treasured photographic record capturing a historical racing moment is available with the option of being autographed by Ron Turcotte. Measures 8" x 10", larger sizes available by special order.
